Save Herself

She went along the highway, and started at the end
I lost her down the road, before it all began

What she found could only save herself

She spent her days searching for what she would have
Holding a case for her future and in it put her past
Alone in hiding, a soul deprived of what wouldn’t help
Emptiness filled with smoke to fog what she felt

What she gave could only save herself
And made her heaven feel like hell
As she lies to herself while she lies by herself
What she had could only save herself

Looking at what she’s looking for
But cannot soar with broken wings
Clouded years of token things
To cover cavum she won’t call a bore
…but are

The thoughts she held
For hopes she felt
Of hollow words she spelled
The emptiness became her means
Of hollow thoughts she dreams
All to save herself

What she laid would only save herself
And what she saved may have paved her hell
